Cara has 175 grams of plastic to thank for her family, friendships, and job. She started playing ultimate her freshman year at the University of Texas in Austin, where she met a handsome young ultimate player named Tank who she married and had a daughter with. While in college she won the Callahan award while playing with a group of amazing women at the University of Texas. She went on to play club with Atlanta Ozone, captain and play for Texas Showdown, and play at the World Championships in Perth, Prague, and Lecco. She also proudly represented the USA in the 2009 and 2013 World Games in Taiwan and Colombia. Cara has coached clinics in the UK and Croatia, coached the UT women’s team from 2008-2009, coached at NUTC (National Ultimate Training Camp), and currently coaches her middle school teams and for the Texas girls U-20 team, Texas Tango.
When not playing or coaching, Cara teaches 6th grade World Cultures, History, and Geography at Kealing Middle School in Austin (not surprisingly, she heard of the position through an ultimate friend). One of Cara’s favorite units to teach is the Middle East, so Ultimate Peace is truly a dream come true for her since it combines her passion for ultimate with her passion for teaching and learning about the world and other cultures.
Sybil was born in 2016, and already has more core strength than her dad and a better forehand than her mom. She hopes to meet lots of future ultimate friends at UP camp, and can’t wait to cheer on the campers in enthusiastic but unintelligible babbling.
