Dan started playing ultimate at Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, MN in 2004. He promptly quit all other sports and focused solely on ultimate. He went to play for Carleton College – CUT and co-captained his team to a DI national championship in 2009. Due to 4 ultimate-related surgeries, Dan has stopped playing competitively. From July 2014 to May 2015, he bicycled from Seattle WA to the coast of Maine and then from Charleston, SC to San Francisco, CA. Now, he is finishing up his Master’s degree in Education at Stanford University and is going to work for an ed-tech start-up that helps college applicants make the most informed decision when deciding where to enroll.
Camp UP 2016 will be Dan’s 7th year in a row as a volunteer coach – he’s been privileged to be with the organization since the beginning. Ultimate Peace has become an extension of his family – literally, his sister Erin is also a coach and figuratively, the people he’s met in the Middle East and from around the world will be close friends for life. His favorite parts of camp are teaching kids to layout on the Slip N’ Slide, choreographing a dance with his team, listening to Stu laugh during Cards Against Humanity, and seeing the sheer joy and excitement of the kids when they arrive to camp, especially those for the first time. He is thrilled and grateful to be back this summer and graciously thanks you for your support!
